Professional installation of external electric roller shutters – three types for every building
We have specialized in the installation of electric roller shutters in the Netherlands for over 2 years.
We install all three types of roller shutters: built-in, top-mounted and external/front-mounted systems – which allows us to provide the right solution for both newly built homes and existing buildings during renovation or window replacement.
Every project starts with a free technical inspection during which we select the optimal type and model.
Types of roller shutters
Three types of electric roller shutters – built-in, top-mounted and front-mounted
Built-in roller shutters (KALIMA RZ type) are designed for new-build houses or major renovations – the shutter box is hidden inside the lintel and covered with plaster, making it completely invisible while reducing thermal bridges. This is the most aesthetic and energy-efficient solution.
Top-mounted roller shutters (KALIMA RN type) are installed together with the window inside the opening – ideal when replacing windows during renovation. The box remains visible but can be painted or finished in almost any color.
Front-mounted roller shutters (KALIMA RS type) are mounted on the facade above the window – without structural modifications. This is the fastest and most flexible solution for existing fully finished buildings in the Netherlands.
Electric roller shutters – insulation, comfort and security
Electric roller shutters are much more than just sun protection. They create an additional insulation layer: during winter, an air cushion forms between the window and the shutter curtain, significantly reducing heat loss. In summer, they block sunlight before it reaches the glass, reducing room heating by 60–70%. Combined with air conditioning, this creates a complete indoor climate comfort system.
Roller shutters also provide privacy and protect against outdoor noise and excessive light during the night. An optional integrated mosquito screen additionally protects against insects when windows are open.
RC2 burglar-resistant roller shutters – maximum security
We also offer RC2 resistance class roller shutters – a standard required by many Dutch insurance companies. The aluminum curtain and reinforced guides provide strong resistance against burglary attempts.
RC2 roller shutters can be connected to an alarm system or programmed to simulate presence when residents are away.
We especially recommend burglar-resistant roller shutters for homes located in remote areas, for people who travel frequently, and for locations where burglaries occur regularly.
Modern automation – control via remote, app and sensors
All our electric roller shutters are available with full automation: a sun sensor lowers the shutters during intense sunlight, a wind sensor raises them during strong winds, and a rain sensor protects the curtain from moisture. Mobile app control for iOS and Android is also available – both locally and remotely from anywhere in the world.
We offer roller shutters compatible with smart home systems such as Somfy TaHoma, Nice Home, KNX, Zigbee and Z-Wave. Integration with Google Home and Amazon Alexa is possible. For people who travel often, we recommend the presence simulation mode – the shutters move automatically according to a programmed schedule.
Roller shutter construction
External electric roller shutter construction – what is worth knowing?
A professional electric roller shutter consists of several key components. The box contains the winding shaft and electric motor – it can be hidden under plaster or remain visible and painted in any desired color. The shutter curtain consists of aluminum profiles filled with polyurethane foam and is available in more than 20 designs and colors. Aluminum or PVC guides with brush seals ensure smooth and quiet operation.
When choosing a motor, it is worth paying attention to the obstacle detection function – it protects the motor from overload, for example when the curtain freezes during winter. Our offer also includes solar-powered motors – powered by solar energy without the need for electrical wiring.

Built-in roller shutters require planning during the construction stage or a major renovation.
How long does electric shutter installation take?
Installation of electric roller shutters for one window usually takes 1–2 hours. A full apartment with 4–6 windows takes approximately 1 working day. A house with 8–12 windows usually takes 1–2 days. Installation dates are typically scheduled within 5–10 days after the quotation is approved.
Do you offer anti-burglary shutters in the Netherlands?
